Master of Medicine in Nuclear Medicine
The Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (AMDI), Universiti Sains Malaysia offers Master of Medicine(MMed) programmes in nice medical speciality areas, The programmes are designed to train clinical specialist that produce innovative clinical and scientific discoveries towards sustainable and holistic heatlhcare deliveries AMDI offers up-to-date MMed programmes through our national and international research network and clinical partnership. AMDI thrives on itsmultidisciplinary enviroment and interconnected clinical, academic and reseach ecosystem.
Master of Medicine (Nuclear Medicine) is a 4-year postgraduate programme to produce clinical experts in the field of nuclear medicine. At the end of this four-year course, candidates are awarded with degree of Master of Medicine (Nuclear Medicine). The program aims to train medical graduates to be competent well versed practicing Nuclear Medicine specialist that can face the ever challenging field. Nuclear medicine involves the use of radioactive materials to obtain clinical information to diagnose and treat certain diseases. The radiopharmaceutical handling techniques, physics, dosimetry and medical radiation protection are also included in the measure of learning. The candidates are also required to engage in the research activities as they are exposed to research methods and data analysis. The use of sophisticated machines such as SPECT-CT assists in producing a good quality of clinical and research outcomes.

USM is the only university in Malaysia offering this unique program. The pioneers of this program graduated as nuclear medicine physicians in 2012" from USM. To date, this program hasproduced 37 successful nuclear medicine physicians serving various hospitals in Malaysia.
Learning Method
Formal taught courses and laboratory session, research dissertation and clinical training. Various approaches of teaching and learning learning including hands ons and practical, seminars, journal clubs and Problem Based Learning (PBL) sessions as well as online self-learning through our e-learn platforms.

Course Structure
Semester I
Year 1 (AMDI USM Bertam)
- Basic clinical imaging(nuclear medicine, radiology), applied medical physics and nuclear pharmacy
- Basic clinical anatomy and physiology
Semester II
Year 2 & 3 (Posting in various accreditted Nuclear Medicine centers)
- Specialist nuclear medicine in-training
- Advanced clinical nuclear medicine and clinical pathophysiology
Semester III
Year 4 (Posting in various accreditted Nuclear Medicine centers)
- Advanced nuclear medicine specialist training.

Admission Requiremants
MBBS/MD with at least 2 years' clinical experience.
Registered with Malaysian Medical Council.
Foreign applicants are required to complete 3-6 months of clinical attachment in Malaysia prior to enrolment to the program and fulfil the minimum English language requirement.
Passed the Medical Specialist PreEntrance Examination (MedEx).
Passed the Admission Interview.
