The Doctor of Medicine program at Universiti Sains Malaysia (MD USM+1) at the Institut Perubatan dan Pergigian Termaju (IPPT) will begin its intake for the 2024/2025 academic session. IPPT serves as an additional location for Phase I studies (pre-clinical phase: Year 1 and Year 2) of the Doctor of Medicine programme, apart from the Pusat Pengajian Sains Perubatan (PPSP) at the Health Campus, USM. For the subsequent phase of study (Phase II; clinical phase: Year 3, Year 4, and Year 5), students will be placed at PPSP.

Phase I Curriculum
The first and the second years of this program prepares for basic medical course for the students. It includes the study of structure, function and biochemical process of a normal human being which form the basis of pathophysiology and clinical basis of diseases in different systems.
A study on bioethics, social health, communication skills, behavioural science, first aid, basic research methodology and the exposure to the clinical environment in the hospital and in community medicine and public health are also provided to the students.
Learning Method
Various interactive learning methods such as lecture, seminar, laboratory practical, problem-based learning, clinical demonstration, hospital visit, online learning, and community placement.
