DOCTOR OF MEDICINE
PROGRAMME (MD USM+1)

Starting from the 2024/2025 academic session, the Doctor of Medicine (MD USM+1) programme at Universiti Sains Malaysia will extend its Phase I (pre-clinical) training to the Pusat Pakar & Penyelidikan Kanser (PPKPK), in addition to its existing site at the School of Medical Sciences
(Pusat Pengajian Sains Perubatan, PPSP) at the USM Health Campus.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

THE CURRICULUM MODEL CONCEPT IS SUMMARISED AS SPICE AND SPICES'

Phase I consists of four semesters and comprises of the programme core courses related to basic medical as well as university courses.

The first and the second years of this program prepares for basic medical course for the students. It includes the study of structure, function and biochemical process of a normal human being which form the basis of pathophysiology and clinical basis of diseases in different systems.

A study on bioethics, social health, communication skills, behavioural science, first aid, basic research methodology and the exposure to the clinical environment in the hospital and in community medicine and public health are also provided to the students.
