PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES (PLO)

Learning and teaching strategies are based on supervision, assessment in Research Methodology courses, monitoring of student progress from time to time, advisory services provided to students during discussion sessions based on the student's current progress to ensure that all targeted PLOs will be achieved. The mapping of the evaluation methods and PLO of this program as follows;

Research Methodology Course (TRX500)

This course has 3 credit units and will be offered to all research mode higher degree students (PhD and research mode Masters) and is required to be registered in the first year and pass. This course is designed and has the following course learning outcomes (CLO);

Thesis Examination

After the initial screening (similarity index) confirms the thesis is ready for examination, it is sent to the appointed examiner. Before the viva voce, the examiner must prepare a preliminary Thesis Examiner Report for the panel's reference. This report aids discussion prior to the Q&A session and assesses the PLO achievement in the thesis.

Progress Report

Overall student progress assessment is done every semester before the new semester starts. However, the student's interpersonal and leadership skills, autonomy and responsibility are assessed by the supervisor upon observation by the main supervisor. The following are the student assessments in the student progress report each semester.

Similarity Index

Before students are required to review the similarity index of student thesis before submitting it for examination. However, examiners can still report to the university if plagiarism is found in the student thesis. This action is to ensure that students understand the issue of plagiarism and its implications (PLO 11), namely professional ethics and morals. Workshops or courses related to this topic will be offered to students as will be discussed in Area 3 (Section 3.3.1).

Viva voce session

In the viva voce session, students are given the opportunity to defend their research work, and the examiners will ask the students questions related to the thesis and the student's research work. After the viva voce session, the viva voce panel will convene to assess the results of the students' assessment and the achievement of each targeted PLO. The thesis examiner panel report must be prepared, and the main supervisor must prepare a continuous quality improvement (CQI) report based on the results of the thesis examiner panel.
